February 26th, 2011 marked the day of the 4th Annual Polar Bear Poker Run in Chatham County. It also marked the last Saturday of “We Love Seniors Month” at the Chatham County Council on Aging. Participants joined together to show their support for the Council, while also enjoying their common bond - motorcycles. After coffee and conversations during registration hour, the riders left the Pittsboro Senior Center to enjoy a scenic ride through the beautiful countryside. However, there was more to be enjoyed besides the picturesque day because a poker game was in progress. Of the 39 participants, Buddy Pease, leader of the Apex United Methodist Church riding group "Roamers", came out on top winning $78 in the 50/50 drawing. He kindly donated it back to the Council on Aging which brought the total proceeds that day to $573.00. The riders ended their route at the Siler City Senior Center to enjoy food and drinks provided by the Concerned Bikers Association/ABATE of Chatham County, Inc. It was definitely a great day for a great cause!
