Transportation
Senior Center Noontime Meals
Our program and activity coordinators arrange for vans and buses to travel neighborhood routes, bringing older asults from across Chatham County to the Senior Centers for morning activities, exercise and noontime meals. After lunch, the vehicles return to pick the riders up and take them back home
Senior Center Activities and Programs
Both Senior Centers offer a variety of daytime and evening classes, social and volunteer opportunities, wellness, caregiver and health programs. We encourage participation by assisting in transportation arrangements.
Medical Appointments
Assistance with non-emergency medical transportation, including appointments in Chatham County, the Chapel Hill area, the Triangle and Triad areas can be arranged by calling either Senior Center.
Special Events
For a day of shopping, a trip to a play in Sanford, a dinner event in Winston Salem, or a special event in Raleigh – the Council on Aging Activities programs cover the Triangle and Triad areas. Group transportation is arranged through the Activities Coordinators in each Senior Center.
Notices for special events include ticket and transportation costs. For more information, contact either Senior Center or watch for information in the quarterly newsletter or local newspaper.
Volunteers
Volunteers are an integral and much appreciated part of everything we do, including transportation. If you have an interest in volunteering to provide transportation, please contact the Council on Aging offices at 542-4512.
General Rural Transportation
General Rural Transportation is operated by rural carriers and funded by the State of North Carolina and Chatham County. Riders can take advantage of regularly schedule stops and return trips at subsidized rates. For more information contact Chatham Transit Network.
