Assistive Devices and Minor Home Repairs and Ramps
The repair program supports independence in the home by providing materials and labor to improve the safety of homes and install assistive devices, and to provide access for seniors requiring wheelchair ramps. All repairs and ramps conform to building codes.
Consider the issues surrounding homes where wheelchair access is needed but not available. People become unnecessarily homebound without the mobility that wheelchair ramps provide. The Council on Aging welcomes volunteer assistance with wheelchair ramp construction. Please contact us is you are interested in helping.
During times of transition, assistive devices such as grab bars and transition chairs are needed. The Council on Aging “recycles” these items from the community and makes them available to older adults in need.
